The LAB is a playground for research by design, reflection, experiment and cross-creation — a place where design meets the craft, knowledge, and expertise of the local making industry, to create what we believe should exist.A place for kindred spirits, who don’t believe “it can’t be done”.

The LAB is about looking forward and imagining a better future. How can e.g. bio-based materials, biomimicry, new making methods and collective housing models support a sustainable transition? Will new “product-service and business models” speed up this transition in times of sharing, when owning becomes utilizing? How will the tech and robotic r-evolution influence our built and natural environment?

What is possible? And what is desirable? That is ethically or morally … because as global citizens, just because it’s possible, doesn’t mean we should.

By design- or systemic thinking and cross-creation, the LAB explores new strategies for an inclusive transition. It develops ideas into tangible concepts and products, bringing them to the local making industry.

So in a way, the LAB is the humus, or nutritious soil, for creativity, reciprocity and co-evolution.
